Today’s Chart of the Day is from the Digital Education Council and presented by Bloomberg in an article called “Does College Still Have a Purpose in the Age of ChatGPT?”

The chart shows that 86% of university students use AI in their studies - 54% use it weekly, while 24% use it daily.  The article notes that the students who chose not to use AI and actually put in the hard work often look worse by comparison. And now professors are starting to use it for grading papers as well as to identify the students who are using AI instead of doing their own work.

The article then goes on to pose the question: Are the students learning a new skill - the use of AI - that will be needed in the future? Or are students missing out on learning the critical thinking that college is supposed to teach? Or is it both?
