Chart of the Day: Buy Low Or ?

chart shows beliefs about good time to sell in blue and good time to buy in orange dating back to 2011

Contents

Today’s Chart of the Day was prepared by Yahoo Finance with data from Fannie Mae, a government-sponsored agency that allows mortgages to be traded between investors. The chart shows that a record-low number of Americans currently believe it's "a good time to buy." However, the “buy low, sell high” contrarian investors would say that these figures show it may be the best time. Only time will tell.

Bonus Fact: In 2023, with over $4.3 trillion in assets, Fannie Mae is the largest company in the United States (from all the loans they hold) and the fourth largest company in the world by assets.
