Chart of the Day: Lowest Ever Alcohol Consumption
Plan Today. Protect Tomorrow. Attend an Educational Estate-Planning Seminar
Today’s Chart of the Day is from Gallop and shows the share of Americans that drink alcohol since 1940. The percentage of alcohol drinkers is now at its lowest since 1940 at 54%, off from a peak of 72% in the late 1970’s.
This affects many aspects of society—specifically restaurants (and of course bars and music venues)—which often generate nearly all of their net profits from alcohol sales and now will have to raise prices on other items and services to compensate.
