Today's Chart of the Day is of the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index published yesterday, March 28.The index figure of 292.71, indicates that $292,710 is the current, average price of a single-family home in the U.S.
This shows the seventh straight month of declining prices, down 5% from its peak in June 2022, and that prices are still 40% higher from the start of the COVID- 19 pandemic three years ago.
However, running the chart back 20 years adds some additional perspective.
