Today’s Chart of the Day is from @CharlieBilello from the Hendrick Bessembinder paper called “Shareholder Wealth Enhancement” published in 2023. It shows the percentage and number of stocks that created the total wealth in the US Stock market from 1926 to 2022.

Three of them (less than .01%) created 10% of lifetime wealth; 72 stocks (0.26%) created 50%; and on other side of the spectrum, 528 (only 2% of all stocks) created 90% of all wealth in the stock market.
