Today’s Chart of the Day comes from @PeterMallouk on Twitter and shows the percent of time the S&P 500 is positive, depending on your holding period, going all the way back to 1928. There is a 75% chance it will be positive over one year, 89% over five years, and 94% over ten years.

The figures remind me of an old saying, “It’s not timing the market, it’s time in the market.”
